I have posted several times talking about my husband who hasn't been able to do the flush yet. I just want to relate how frustrating it is dealing with doctors.

Since his acute pancreatitis in Oct, a biopsy was done Dec 22 on some scar tissue (stricture) in his duodenum near the GB/pancreas ducts (bio turned out OK). He was told this area keeps "narrowing" in spite of being stretched twice and a gallstone "might get stuck like it did before" and "THIS time it will be serious!!" Yet his records show that drs planned no further surveilance on this IF the biopsy turned out OK!

In other words, just let it narrow even more and close the opening and then you will be forced to take your GB out! Since it is a VA hospital he has had several different doctors and it seems half the time each doesn't know what the other has said! He was sent in Dec to a dr outside the hospital who told him that it looked like he "was doing good"; "bile is flowing OK," "you're not scheduled for surgery; just need to watch your diet; keep meals small," etc.

THEN he goes back for his appointment last week and this dr says, "Your gallbladder is full of mush" (which I assume means "pus"). "You need to remove it." The first time the verdict was, "it's full of stones; one might go through the wall and then you'll be in trouble." Yet this first dr said the GB couldn't be removed until the infection or inflammation cleared up. (My husb is allergic to penicillin btw)

I assume this "mush" is empyema which is supposed to be associated with acute cholecystitis - am I right? He had the symptoms of such when he came out of the hosp in Oct --but not now! (We thought it might be classified as chronic now.)

Well, I just read online that: "Empyema of the gallbladder is marked by intense pain on the upper right side of the abdomen, high fever, and rigidity of the muscles over the infected area." He has NO pain; NO attacks; only a slight soreness (if pressed) in the area where the duodenum is; belching after meals and in bed by 8:30 p.m! On his ERC report in Dec it said he had "inflammation of the duodenum."

But everytime he goes to the dr it is another scare story. We're waiting for his recent report to arrive in the mail. His next appointment is supposed to be in March.

In the meantime he continues to take Gold Coin Grass and EVERYTHING else we can possibly think of!

Sorry for rattling on, but I hope many of you will pray that he gets through this with his GB intact and that the inflammation will heal. I have appreciated everyone's input.
