tegument of fluke = tomato skin

The tegument is like a thick protective 'skin*' on certain parasites - it comes off when they die...and hence we see 'rolled up tomato skins'. Of course, the teguments are not the liver fluke itself (flukes are flat on the bottom and domed on the top).

*The tegument of a parasite cannot really be compared to skin on animals. Google it to learn more.
