Having treated myself with herbal and nutritional protocols for over a decade, as well as having studied natural medicine for 3 years, I believe that a predominately raw food diet rich in freshly prepared juices and green smoothies (fruits and green leaves) will act as cure and prophylactic against most disease conditions.
Specifically geared toward hepatic dysfunction, I would include Silybum marianum (Milk Thistle / St Mary's Thistle) as a liver regenerator. Take a strong dose. I would take this for a couple of months alongside a raw-food diet before attempting a liver-flush. This way, you'll be guaranteed a patent bowel and a healthy liver prior to embarking on aggressive cleansing methods that might upset an inflamed liver. Also go easy on dietary fats and avoid air-borne and cosmetic toxins (e.g. fly-sprays, common skin creams), as the liver must breakdown and detoxify these chemical compounds respectively. There are other herbs that exert a specifically cholagogue action, but you might not need them after taking Milk Thistle and eating properly, as bile flow should eventually be restored naturally.
See the body as a whole and be patient. The body is 'natural' of course; as such, the therapeutic diet must be commensurately 'natural' (raw, uncooked, unprocessed, free from added chemicals which harm the liver, nutritionally and fiber-rich). Please research 'Silybum marianum' for its liver-healing ability. It is amazing.
