I'm sure there's a connection with the following information about the low Adrenal function (Adrenal Fatigue/Exhaustion), electrolyte imbalance (salt, water, potassium talked about here) and parasites being able to live in an out of balance body. It's all connected.
But, different information for two different subjects in the same thread, both using Vitamin C/salt.
For the Adrenal Fatigue:
The Potassium Chloride Newport has in his post for his Miracle Adrenal Mix, is what Morton's salt substitute is. (and there is no aluminum in it)

The reason for the salt:
From the James Wilson book "Adrenal Fatigue in the 21st Century" he tells why the sodium, and potassium get out of whack, and low potassium is NOT the problem- that, in fact, you will feel worse by eating foods high in potassium, especially if not getting the extra sodium needed. In the graph, showing the process of what happens with low Aldosterone levels, serum potassium is increased, and taking more potassium will make you feel worse.

With adrenal fatigue, the craving for salt is a direct result of the lack of adequate aldosterone. Aldosterone controls sodium, potassium, and fluid volumes in your body. When aldosterone secretions are normal, potassium, sodium and fluid levels are also normal. When aldosterone is high, sodium is kept high in the fluids circulating in your body.
However, as circulating aldosterone levels fall, sodium is removed from your bloodstream as it passes through the kidneys and is excreted in the urine. When sodium is excreted it takes water with it. Initially, there is some loss of volume of your body fluids but it does not become severe unless the condition worsens. Once your circulating sodium level drops to about 50% of it's original concentration in body fluids, even a small loss of sodium or sodium restriction in your diet begins to have severe consequences.
If you are suffering from moderately severe adrenal fatigue you must be careful how you re-hydrate yourself. Drinking much water or liquid without adequate sodium replacement will make you feel worse because it will dilute the amount of sodium in your blood even further. Also, your cells need salt to absorb fluids because sufficient sodium must be inside the cell before water can be pulled back across the membrane into the cell.
Water poses a specific problem for people with adrenal fatigue because they tend toward dehydration but can easily over dilute the circulating electrolytes in their blood by drinking too much water. The balance of sodium and potassium significantly affects the symptoms experienced by people with adrenal fatigue and drinking plain water alters this balance. Therefore although they are often thirsty, drinking water may make them feel worse. To help balance the ratio of water to sodium and avoid this problem try adding 1/4 to 1/2 tsp salt to every glass of drinking water. (Sea salt)
When you are already low on body fluids and electrolytes, as you are in this siutation, you should always add salt to your water. Do not drink soft drinks or electrolyte rich sports drinks, like Gatorade, because they are high in potassium and low in sodium, the opposite of what someone with low cortisol levels who is dehydrated needs.
When your aldosterone levels are low and you are dehydrated and sodium deficient, you may also crave potassium because your body is sending you the mesage that your cells are low on potassium as well as sodium and water. However, after consuming only a small amount of potassium containing foods or beverages (like fruit, fruit juice, and commercial electrolyte replacement drinks), you will probably feel worse because the potassium/sodium ratio will be further disrupted.
What you really need in this situation is a combination of all three, water, salt and potassium in the right proportions.
You must continue to be careful to drink salted water 2-4 times during the day, varying the amount of salt according to your taste and you should avoid potassium-containing foods in the morning when your cortisol and aldosterone levels are low.<<<

Salt craving is a common symptom in all stages of adrenal fatigue. But suffice it to say that this is your body's way of crying out for something that it needs. Our salt-phobic society has deprived millions of people struggling with adrenal fatigue of something that would decrease their symptoms and speed their recovery. They have taught their bodies to ignore the urge for salt because it is politically incorrect to salt food. Most of this fear of salt is due to the myth that it causes high blood pressure.
However, the majority of people with adrenal fatigue have low blood pressure, not high.
This does not mean that excessive salt intake is good for the person not suffering from adrenal fatigue. As your adrenal glands get stronger, you will usually lose your taste for salt. If you are concerned that you are taking in too much salt, decrease the amount and watch yourself closely. If your symptoms increase or you do not feel as good, then you probably still need a little extra help from salt.
****Conversely, foods high in potassium such as fruit (especially bananas and dried figs) make adrenal fatigue worse.
A caution with fruit juices: Fruit juices and fruit drinks are not good beverages to have in any quantitiy if you are hypoadrenic and/or hypoglycemic. Once in a while they can be tolerated, diluted or in small quantitiies. Add a pinch of salt to help balance the high potassium content of fruit juice.
Do not drink fruit juices early in the morning or anytime you are experiencing major symptoms of adrenal fatigue. If you start experiencing increased low adrenal symptoms within 90 minutes of drinking fruit juice, then the fruit juice is porbably at fault and you should avoid it in the future. Orange juice seems to be especially detrimental to people with adrenal fatigue. Avoid orange juice especially before noon if you suffer from adrenal fatigue. So the take home message from fruit juices is do not drink them in the morning, do not have them by themselves, and only drink them in small quantities.
People who suffer from adrenal fatigue frequently have erratic or abnormal blood Sugar levels in the form of hypoglycemia. In fact, people who have functional hypoglycemia are usually suffering from decreased adrenal function.
The adrenals also have an effect on mental states. As a result, people with adrenal fatigue show a tendency toward increased fears, anxiety, depression, have intervals of confusion, increased difficulties in concentrating and less acute memory recall. They often have less tolerance than they normally would and are more easily frustrated. When the adrenals are not secreting the proper amount of hormones, insomnia is also one of the likely outcomes.<<<<<
