Re: Maintenance dosage controversy?
Hi, citingsources! I am glad to see you posting again; I didn't see you for a while.
I wrote that post you refer to, but it was to a newbie who said he/she had "some hypothyroid symptoms." No mention of diagnosed problems, and had not started on iodine. He/she just wanted some basic info, and I was just giving him a general idea. The 12.5 is the amount mentioned in the Abraham papers to use after achieving sufficiency to maintain full body sufficiency. I mentioned the three months because I read on one site that they start with this in mind (adjusting as they go along, of course) but I did read of one patient cured in six weeks of
Depression using 37.5 mg.
I did tell him I was on high doses and I figured I was in for several years to get rid of all my problems. Maybe I won't be on such high doses for all that time, but can't predict the future.
I certainly agree with you about not decreasing the dose when you still need it. I have been on
Iodine for five months, and am doing over 300 mg per day. I feel I need it, and I do my due diligence by taking breaks when necessary.
So perhaps I could have worded it differently to cover all bases. I'm not perfect. I have found that new people cannot wrap their head around "huge doses for an extended length of time" and then I would catch flak from the anti-high doses group. Catch 22.
Anyway, I do agree with you that too little is not good either. You won't find my dosage in that category, that's for sure.
