Maybe a juicer would help and you could make apple cider? vegetable juices with chard - kale and other green leafies have lots of calcium and magnesium and it comes in a form where the mag is the exact correct amount to complement the calcium.
I was reading that in Japan they don't take calcium and in their food they get much less than the recommended dosage here - some where around 500 mg as apposed to 1500mg but they DO NOT get the hip fractures we get here. Interesting...
