Edema
A certain amount of protein is required to run off the water. I guess that is what my body was saying to me. I am now going back to my tried and true diet of protein and vegetables. This diet, along with iodine, salt and extra magnesium is what got me off the meds (diabetic, high blood pressure, depression) in the first place. I only began adding fruit in the last couple of months. Fructose in any form raises my blood sugar, but for some reason mangoes had not. But I overdid it. I also cannot eat grains, of any kind. Yin is watery, juicy, so edema means too much yin.
Even while on meds, I never had edema. I had some many years ago when I drank tons of diet soda (before aspartame).
High protein is much maligned, but I swear protein and vegetables really work for me. Fruits are very cleansing, but with iodine, my body is doing a lot of cleansing. I think together it was just too much for me.
Actually, Hoppy, your situation is the one that got me to thinking about my edema, and why it would suddenly appear. I remembered you were on a fruit diet. When I read your post, I admired you for trying the fruit diet, but knew how fruit had really raised my blood sugar. I love fruit and that would be my ideal diet if I could choose.
But I can't choose, so for now, back to protein and vegetables.
Hoppy, we all prayed for you, and are invested in you. Please post often.
