Genesis 1:27 and 5:2 "...He created THEM...".

God knew there could and would be controversy over spiritual gender status and significance (God always knew there would be controversy about everything and anything). Anything that is reasonable for a sincere person who truly has love in their heart and mind (contrite heart) is addressed in scripture, yet, understanding is still only secondary and must remain so. LOVE is the first order of Godliness, and when/if purity of heart has been established in the believer, partial understanding MAY or may NOT be "granted" by The Lord as an individual's own pastime (as long as The Lord is convinced that it will have absolutely NO bearing/influence on that person's GODLINESS or faith, love must be well established first because LOVE must remain to be the maintenance of their faith).

God never explained creation/evolution or exactly why "the earth was without form and void" and SPECIFICALLY what His spirit was doing in Genesis 1:1-4 (which may have been millions of years ago according to the Gregorian calendar). He never explained that each day of creation may have been a thousand years long "... with the Lord each day is as a thousand years...", 2 Peter 3:8) and that the "days of creation" might have been separated by millions of years. He didn't explain that there might have been only 50 species of animals on the earth when Noah loaded the Ark. He didn't explain these nonessential understandings because they shouldn't really matter to the SINCERE (faith is not the objective/hallmark of Christianity, LOVE is,...the GREATEST of these, 1 Corinthians 13:13). After all, IF, as we claim, we live according to the ways of the spirit [of God], then we should not walk by faith, we should "walk by the spirit", Galatians 5:16 and 25).

The bible contains what God decided we need to know (from creation to His return). In the Lord, there is "neither male nor female" (Galatians 3:28). Cultural beliefs during Old Testaments were that the female should be treated and thought of as "less significant" than the male gender and many people today CHOOSE to follow that tradition for reasons of maintaining their own EGO, but while they do this, they show that their intention/objective is not love/Godliness (Hebrews 4:12).

All verses are from the RSV (Revised Standard Version).
