Why do they say fungus thrives in an alkaline environment?

When clearly alkalizing the body helps any fungus condition. Is there some evidence that live fungus (in the wild maybe) tends to grow in alkaline soil or something? I just wonder why I read this on the internet so often. I suspect somehow they then mistakenly assumed that the body shouldn't be alkaline when dealing with a fungus issue. Perhaps it is just misinformation and wrong conclusions, but it is giving out the wrong message to those with candida, to avoid the "good" foods and fill the body with acid which just burns the body from the inside out! /Rant off
