I don't have my period yet, can I do the master cleanse diet?

Hi! My period is often irregular and I been taking anthroposophic remedies to get it back on a better rhythm. Someone told me that it is best to start the MCD AFTER my period coz it works better. Does it really? Can I start it off anyway even before my period comes?
