I've always lived in the city because I don't want to have to rely on a car for daily shopping and I do like having everything within convenient distance. I guess the only reason I don't rave about city life is because "the grass always grows greener on the other side". But if you can move closer family, no doubt life will be more interesting (probably the best that life can be, sure it'll have it's ups and downs, that's what makes life more interesting).
Once your husband's back gets better (strengthen the stomach muscles for less strain), there might not be any problem with physical exertion and the medical insurance might not really be much of a concern because of that (pain is sometimes bad posture and a chiropractor can be very helpful).

At times, I've gotten very bad back pain just because I slept in the wrong position (or was it that I was 40 pounds overweight). Sometimes I got relief just from loosening my belt or going to the bathroom.
