You might be able to find a little more relaxation now with a course online, but it requires sitting at length in front of a glaring screen (maybe wear sunglasses).
There are lots of organizations across the country that need someone who knows how to take care of a house/community shelter (there are many more organizations). You're going to get pretty bored in the city (do you have a garden right now?). The city is also expensive. I live in New York City and the average rent is close to $3000 per month (landlords expect everyone to have roommates).
Check colleges for day care monitors, etc. Some also need tutors, mentors, etc. Colleges have their own employment offices for the public and usually offer very good pay and free tuition for employees.
Your husband might be helped a great deal with water and Sea Salt . He'll have to be responsible about not shoveling (don't want to have to rush off to the hospital). You could check out the warecure forum and the Sea Salt forum (others also).
