Herpes disappeared?

Hi,
I was diagnosed about 4 years ago with genital herpes...from a culture swab. I only had a minor primary outbreak and I have never had another one. I am seeing someone new ( broke up with my bf of 2 years, whom i told before we had sex -- he never had an outbreak..and he's had cold sores on his mouth, so I assumed it was harder for him to get it.) --I assumed after doing much research recently that i had hsv type I since i have never had a recurrence. So since i am seeing someone new now i went to get a blood test to see if it was type I or type II so i could be a bit more educated about my case...and no hsv antibodies were detected in my blood. No type I, and no type II. So my question is....is it pretty much safe to say that it has been so long and it was so mild that it sort of "disappeared" or i don't have enough of it in my body to cause outbreaks or spread to someone? I know shedding fades after a while, and its been 4 years, with no outbreaks. and i know that there are different strains and types of all kinds of viruses, some possibly never shedding or causing outbreaks. is it necessary to tell future partners? i dont want to give up unneccesary personal information. It is pretty much a sure thing that i will never get an outbreak now,or pass it on, correct?
