Re: Alex Jones...(long)

Well, I can answer one of those questions for you, or at least attempt to. This is just my observation from my little corner of the world, and in no means expect you to believe it's "the truth. the whole truth, and nothing but the truth."

You asked, "why do we have Christian(s) For Israel preached every day?" I am a Christian, although I am having to re-examine what that means to me lately. Within the broad scope of the word "Christian," I am/was both a fundamentalist (believing that every word in the Bible is Truth and doing my best to live according to what I believe/d is the inspired Word of God; I am/was also an evangelical, whose job it is to further the Kingdom of God by spreading the truth of the Gospel of Jesus Christ and actually winning souls to Christ.

Being a fundamentalist evangelical Christian includes believing in the doctrine that God's chosen people were the Hebrews/Jews. Some denominations believe that Biblical Israel is still God's chosen people, and other denominations believe that the Jews had their chance and blew it, and now the covenant relationship that God had with Israel moved to the Christian Church. These church denominations say that the nation of Israel (I'm talking about ancient Israel, not today's govt) in the Old Testament is a symbol of the relationship God now has for the Body of Christ. Anything we read about Israel in the Old Testament applies to us, the New Covenant Christians. I would put myself in this group.

Regardless of whether an evangelical Christian believes one or the other of the above positions, we ALL respect the Jewish faith, because we ALL believe in Jesus Christ, who was born a Jew. Some "newer" (I don't know, maybe really old and have recently regained popularity) denominations within the Christian faith have purposely gone back to what they believe are the roots of Christianity and have embraced a Messianic Jewish doctrine. It's really pretty interesting. These folks observe the Jewish feasts and calendar, learn and read/sing in Hebrew, learn Jewish folk dances, observe the Friday eve- Saturday Sabbath, and actuall try to live according to levitical law, as they believe Jesus would have done. They say it helps them have a deeper understanding of New Testament scripture/the Gospel by studying the Jewishness of Christ. This is a growing movement, and I assume the general public will see more of it in the next 5 or so years.

When I first showed up on the Conspiracy forum a couple of years ago, I was called a Christian Zionist and a bunch of other names. At that time, I wasn't up on the lingo, and thought that being a Zionist accurately described who I was. I think I was actually pretty proud of it. I bet, if you asked Joe of Jane Evangelical if s/he was a Zionist, they would probably say, "why, yes, I am!" and stick their chests out a little.

It was probably sweet Oh who took me aside and said, "Donna, let me tell you what 'zionist' means." Well, what I learned was that there were a whole bunch of meanings for the word "Israel," and that Christians were being misled into supporting a different Israel than what they/we think we are supporting. The Israel we think we are supporting (Fiddler on the Roof Israel, Cecil B. DeMille's Ten Commandments Israel, maybe Speilberg's Schindler's List Israel- too graphic for me so I never saw it) actually doesn't exist anymore. That was a really big eye opener for me, even two years ago.

So is the "Christians For Israel" theme being promoted and taken advantage of today? Yippers. It's definitely OK with today's Israelites. Do politicians play into that Christian belief system to promote a pro-Israel agenda? Right again, my friend. Do Christians know they're being played? Most don't. But the US will continue to have Israel's back for a long, long time as long as the faithful Jewish-Americans, Catholics, and Protestants among the voting population exist.

Hope this helps!

Donna
