It is great. One time my back went out very very badly. I was in intense pain - I had just moved to Ojai and I didn't know many people there but the one person I did know told me to go see this guy named Dr.Park. He is a Korean guy and he did both acupuncture and cupping on me.

The first thing he did was the cupping. He said there are 2 different ways to do it and he was going to use the big cup on me for my back pain. So this involved a large glass cup which he put on my back after having made a small lance there - they use fire to suck the oxygen out of the cup and then leave it for a while. A fairly large amount of blood - maybe a 1/2cup I'm not sure was pulled out of my back. He says this technique does not pull out any good blood - only stagnant sick blood. The idea is that there is stagnant blood - n Chinese medicine it is all about keeping the energy flowing in various ways. He said that my system was clogged and he was going to unclog it. I was open to it because this guy told me he had gotten miraculous results from it. After that session he sent me home telling me that I would probably experience a good deal of pain that night and by god I did - it was awful and I was up half the night in tears - then I went to sleep and when I woke up the pain was all gone - I mean it was instantly totally and completely better!

In my subsequent sessions he would do acupuncture and then he would do the other cupping technique which involved constantly applying small cups all over my back. It left the kind of marks on my back that resemble what we used to call ahichey when I was a teenager - you know what I mean?

Anyway it itched something awful and he would do this at every treatment after the acupuncture. After a while when he did it it left no mark and this meant that he had gotten all the dead blood out.

I don't live in Ojai anymore and I miss him - He really helped me that time.

So that's my cupping story..

If you have a really good doc that you can trust because of great references I would try it. If you live anywhere near Ojai or Ventura, CA you might look him up - he is in Ventura.
