Re: the time has come, the walrus said, to talk of pH.

the body maintains different pH levels in different parts of the body. some can fluctuate greatly, like the stomach, and some must be kept within a very narrow range, like the blood.

measuring the pH of saliva and urine can be useful in some instances, but your perception is correct. like most tests done by medicos, the results are worthless because they tell you very little of what is actually going on the body. the environment in the human body is dynamic and fluctuates constantly. tests have one purpose - to justify poisoning, butchering and other barbarisms by allopaths and even many NDs as well. both are symptom fighters and rarely if ever look for causes and seek cures.

learn what makes excess acid in the body and avoid doing that. for all the efforts some people make, even dumping alkaline concoctions into their bodies like they were a test tube, these can all be wiped out by the stress of heavy traffic, a crappy boss, a poor relationship with the opposite sex, etc. learning to handle stress so that is doesnt eat a person alive is a worthwhile endeavor indeed. i recall dr lorraine day, author of "what the government is not telling you about aids" and a Breast Cancer victor:

all her fellow doctors could tell her was that she was going to die. damn, thats got to be healthy and healing, huh?

her story is certainly an inspiration, but at the end(the tumor is gone with no chemo or surgery), she said after trying everything she knew to do, including lots of group prayer and meditation, the tumor started going away when she learned to handle stress.

you know when you are creating excess acid in your body by what you eat. eat fresh and raw. cooked food, concentrated proteins(especially with carbs), grains, dairy, and other mucus forming foods will increase the low pH load. toxins which accomplish the same suppression of enzymes do the same thing, like mercury and lead and arsenic and the lighter halogens. these are the things that make and nurture cancers.

another thing to note. swinging toward the acidic side is much less dangerous, short term, than being too alkaline. its all about balance. but you will notice, bad eating and toxins dont cause a swing toward alkalinity. this is for a reason and should not be lost on the student of self health. taking drastic measures to change these processes without removing their source is the same as trying to reduce a fever. learn to work with nature, not against it.
