Re: Question: Whose childhood was completely 'normal'?
Absolutely, Soulful!
Particularly your observation that 'life is not fair'!
You remind me that the seed of a beautiful plant, perfect in every way, may land on barren soil.
Still, the seed will use every tiny opportunity to grow, and fulfill its promise.
We have extra talents, thought and emotions and choice. One more...memory. We can compare. Another...observation, and logic/reasonableness.
We see that our growth is a progression, a process...as new-to-us truths, and our own particular point-of-view, unfold.
I very much like to look on the bright side. I found it very helpful to realize that a person who has no legs is very pleased with their every accomplishment.
And that every moment is an opportunity to begin again. "Starting here and now, what comes next on the way I want to go?"
It's an adventure, isn't it?! ...Building.
