Re: Ques. for Sanctuary cats and iodine??

The cats still prefer to come inside and drink the dogs water. I give the dog distilled water with a drop of iodine, but not everyday. Lately the distilled water has some aloe juice in it and the cats still prefer it to their plain water.

I haven't noticed any adverse affect. The younger cat, who is still around 9 years old seems very spritely lately. Running around like she a kitchen. The older cat, 16 yo, I haven't really noticed any difference. She has some kind of recurring skin lesions which I have no idea what causes it. I suspect she also has skin cancer on her little pink nose. There is a chunk missing and it bleeds from time to time. She is pretty skinny, but seems happy and doesn't show any signs of discomfort.

I find I hardly ever fill their bowl anymore because they are always drinking out of the dogs bowl. And when the dog goes outside, she never touches the cats water. Iodine doesn't seem to be hurting them at all.
