Only in a relative sense are the elements corrupted. In an absolute sense they are never and have never been corrupted. Particularly the essence of the elemnts are beyond corruption. For example, Fire in and of itself is without corruption. However, the flame of a burning toxic material create a polutant but only until the toxic material has been completely destroyed. Beyond that, the original pure condition of the flame is once again restored. The same may be said in broad terms about earth, water, wind and space. These same elements also have a
corresponding psychological aspect.
