My opinion (and slight rant)
My opinion is that it is not really the fault of the doctor. He is doing exactly as he has been trained. The drug companies are more vocal than the consumer. It's like the madrassas teaching hate to the children. Then the children grow up hating, but they are doing as they have been trained.
Look at Pepsi and Coke whose advertising target the youth!
The ACLU is now something to be feared because they have made their voices known, and good people everywhere just shake their heads, but do not support groups that fight for opposite causes (ACLJ, for instance).
AARP is able to influence some legislation because they are organized.
Companies used to pay for insurance, but small businesses cannot compete with bigger businesses and foreign competition, and pay for insurance without raising their prices therefore making them less competitive as well. We fight for higher wages, only to find that this fighting has led to our jobs being sent overseas, or foreign goods are cheaper than American ones.
The answer is for the consumers to be more vocal. Hating and complaining do no good. It is not an effective tool. In this age of information online, we have a good chance to become more vocal. But it needs to be organized. I write my senators about what I want, and it is better than nothing, but how effective would it be if everyone on Curezone, or even just the
Iodine Forum, not only wrote their congressmen but viral emailed their friends and families to do the same? How about if we also sent those same opinions to our local and national newspapers, the local and cable stations? How about if we involve people on the other forums we are on? How about something targeting the youth? How viral could we actually get? It would have to be a concerted effort, with a limited focus.
Maybe there's something out there we could join and influence. Or maybe someone really creative could start something. If ten committed people could get 10 other committed people.... It could be done with the power of computers, no money needed, just inspiration and some dedicated time. Let me know. Count me in.
