Re: confused
Hi,
I bought a book that you might want to buy. It is called "The New Eating Right for a Bad Gut: The Complete Nutrition Guide to Ileitis, Colitis, Crohn's Disease, and Inflammatory Bowel Disease." The author is James Scala.
I haven't tried anything that this author has suggested, but he said the main problem with vegetables and fruits is the fibrous material. Your body is not able to break this down. He says that you have to cook vegetables a very long time, until it is like mush. That is when the fibrous material has broken down and is okay to eat. Fruits, like oranges, need all the white fibrous matter removed from the orange to be able to eat it.
This book was pretty interesting. It may helpful.
A good website is The Crohn's and Colitis Foundation of America (www.ccfa.org). This website is excellent and also has books that you can purchase.
Two of these books are "Listen to Your Gut" and "The IBD Remission Diet" both by Jini Patel Thompson.
I can't tell you if any of the information works because I have always "chickened out." But maybe you are more adventurous than I am.
Good luck.
