Yes, some statistics are open to interpretation,...such as the deficit.

Government spending has been wild and carefree since Bush took over. Interest rates alone assure that every person in America for the next two generations is going to have to tighten their belt. Right now, the pentagon is going to junk the surplus it paid 1.8 Billion dollars for instead of sell it to surplus dealers because it doesn't want people to be able to have supplies such as boots and binoculars and doesn't want to sell parts for F-14 Tomcats to American aircraft dealers even though they can be fitted to many commercial planes. NASA doesn't have the money to search for asteroids that threaten earth.
