I agree with Kass. Even though Angell got relief with accutane, the treatment did not address the source of the problem. This is my disagreement with most prescription medications: they treat symptoms, do not address the cause of the problem and many times themselves cause other problems (some serious). In many cases "practicing pysicians" are practicing on us! Their education encompasses pharmaceutical treatment and surgery for the most part. It is rare to find a wholistically minded MD.
At the risk of repeating myself, I believe we should work from the inside out to take care of our skin, which is a clear reflection of what's going on inside. A clean colon (no easy task in my case), clean liver/gallbladder and well-functioning kidneys can take care of most of man's ills, given the chance with the support of a clean, nutritious diet and plenty of pure water!
I understand Angell's desperation for a cure, and am glad he got some relief. However, I have my doubts about the permanence of the cure and would highly recommend he look inside the the cause of his troubles.
