how many drops of Lugols for disinfecting water?

My son is going to Thailand for a month and I've heard from a couple of people that they got sick there, they weren't sure if it was the water or food. Of course I'm sending him a first aid kit of sorts including Lugols. My question is - for the purposes of disinfecting drinking water what is the ratio of drops to water?
