Re: Problem with the Gay/Lesbian Marriage Debate Forum
I agree, no one should be allowed to say bad things about homosexuals. They are protected, by law, from discrimination. That goes for people of all religions, color, gender, etc.
However, there is something called freedom of speech. Do I get offended by posts on the
Debate Forums ? The answer is yes. Do I think people should be allowed to state their opinions, even though I find it offensive? The answer is yes. Do I think people should be allowed to be inflammatory? The answer is maybe. I'd say there are degrees for everything, and that is where the gray line of free speech falls.
I'd like to drop kick anyone who speaks or writes racial statements. Most of the time, it's obvious that people that do that are either ignorant or fearful or brainwashed by environment or upbringing. Sad really. I'm sorry that you stated the obvious, and no one came to your aid. Racism should not be tolerated, and things should be said. That is where you are free to say that you are offended, and that the offensive person should take a long walk off a short pier (a CZ version of flipping them the bird).
So, the one thing you can do is scream "off topic", alert the webmaster, and then let the moderators decide. Which I think you are doing right here, right now.
I stay away from the
Debate Forums now. They can really push your buttons.
By the way, I am fully supportive of gay marriage and gay adoption, and have the confidence that some day soon, all this will be undebatable.....
