Harmful Bacteria, Alkalinity and Lugol's?

I am posting this because of Lugol's history as a general purpose disinfectant and its use in the dairy industry for treating mastitis, along with acv and honey

From Dr. D.C. Jarvis, Folk Medicine, Appendix E
"A friend on the faculty of a medical school sent me for my information a list of bacteria harmful to the human body. with the reaction of the media most favorable for their growth. This list was made up for me at his request by the department of bacteriology, and reads as follows:

MOST FAVORABLE REACTION OF MEDIA FOR GROWING PATHOGENIC BACTERIA

Microorganism _Reaction
Staphylococcus 7.4 _alkaline
Streptococcus 7.4 to 7.6_alkaline
Pneumococcus 7.6 to 7.8_alkaline
H. Influenza 7.8_alkaline
Meningococcus 7.4 to 7.6_alkaline
Gonococcus Cnrymbacterium diptheriae 7.2_alkaline
B. abortus 7.2 to 7.4_alkaline
B. tularemae 6.8 to 7.3_alkaline
Clostridium tetani 7.0 to 7.6_alkaline

It becomes apparent, as one studies this list, that microorganisms harmful to the human body grow on an alkaline soil. This is particuularly interesting in the light of the evidence that in dairy cows and human beings alike, an instinct exists which leads them to seek an acid intake.

In the light of the above evidence, it seems reasonable to suspect that pathogenic bacteria which are harmful to the body are in the world for another purpose than to cause sickness in human beings. Nature has spread acid vegetation about with a lavish hand. apparently to prevent infestation of the body with pathogenic microorganisms, turning into infection of the body by these same microorganisms. The instinct leading animals and humans to seek acid vegetation and acid liquids has been given as a protection."

The connection for me is that these micro organisms and pathogens exist and Lugol's has had a history of being disinfectant. By inference, and using Jarvis'
language of soil to imply any medium in which illness can take root, the body is the
earth and water needing disinfecting when pathogens have established themselves. What is interesting is the level of alkalinity at which these organism thrive and the possible correspondence to their thriving in our bodies when the conditions are likewise right or ripe (take your pick).
