Re: Problem with my son
Dear heart, it is inappropriate for anyone to use the therapy of another person as a weapon of shame, control, or humiliation against them. You can contact the specialist and see if he/she has a sliding scale for fees, OR if you can get help through local agencies.
Yes, this type of thing can go on for years and years. I remember my ex refusing to "forgive" his mother and never speaking to her, again. The story that he gave was that she was a terrible mother, etc. What I learned AFTER I divorced him was that his mother was the victim of horrible physical and mental abuse at the hands of his "war hero" father.
Another thing that may help you is to understand and accept that we cannot fix anything except our Selves - our Life's Spark. We cannot "fix" what went wrong. We cannot "fix" mistakes that we made. The only thing we can "fix" is us. Keep the space around you positive. Reject all negativity, even if it is from your own offspring. Yes, we would LOVE to have a healthy relationship with our children, but it just isn't going to happen unless THEY make changes in their Life Sparks.
You will be just fine, yes you will.
