At the time that public comment was allowed I sent in my two cents and suggested an alternative of 1 oz sales of the original formula, only half expecting it to be considered. The fact is, I bet Kent's Marine stepped in also since they have a whole fish care business/industry based on their 1 oz bottles to pet stores. For better or worse at least the 1 oz size will be available. The 16 oz will have to be 2% but the price will be lower and we are going to offer a 2 oz of the 2% when the time comes.
The best we can do now is double the usage and be more or less happy that 1 oz sales for the time being of the 5% are still over the counter and non prescrip.
I agree, its ridiculous. If you read the DEA alert page I have had up for the last 6 months

you will see that even DEA stats show a decrease in this meth lab production
as it relates to cooking down Iodine tincture or strong Iodine mixtures. So why are they doing this really? Tweet
