Re: Iodine and cramping
This type of cramping is almost always from a mineral deficiency, notably calcium, magnesium or potassium. It is exacerbated by drinking soda, because it has phosporic acid in it - I am not saying you drink soda, just putting that in for information. It is also exacerbated by sweating, which leaches sodium and potassium both. That is how Gatorade became so popular.
What works for me is dolomite, which is a calcium/magnesium supplement from limestone. There are plenty of people who are against dolomite because it is from ground rock, but I swear by it, and its results. I have tried comparable combinations from other sources and nothing works for me, my family, my friends, like dolomite. It is really popular among the soda drinkers and those with
Arthritis (I don't have good role models!).
Dolomite as a preventative is two tablets AM and PM. It has magnesium so it is good for HBP and to help you sleep. But having magnesium means if you take too much (6-10), you will have diarrhea. However, if you are in the middle of a cramp, the easiest way to get rid of it is to stand up on that foot, push your foot into the floor hard, while chewing 3-4 dolomite. Relief comes in 60 seconds usually.
It doesn't seem reasonable to me that iodine, a micro mineral could replace any of the major minerals, so if it were me, I would look to see what would be creating a deficiency in any of the above major minerals, any fasting, or pushing salt, or any flush that would take minerals out of the body too quickly. If you think the
Iodine is contributing, you can always back it off a little.
