Some information I have read suggests that the artificial sweeteners in diet drinks promote binging by conditioning the body to crave an excessive ammount of sweetness which can translate into just more food. But I can definitely see how they could assist with a fast purely for weight loss, but if you are trying to modify binging behavior it may be more benificial to fast without them. I'm sure you will find what works best for you. And no! you are not pathetic! Happy fasting! :)
