I am kind of confused by all of the what-kills-what and what remains. I just posted on OP that I have not seen any advice to take, say, probiotics with coconut oil. I think it gets down to what exactly makes something "antibacterial" -- a certain substance like Iodine or coconut oil might help the body get rid of bacteria in a different way than a standard antibiotic, and thus not have the mass-murder effect on flora? I am completely thinking out loud here...any ideas would be welcome.
I think Iodine was used to keep milk bacteria-free. I guess you don't want bacteria in your milk --one thing I notice with fresh milk is that it just doesn't go bad like processed milk does and this makes me think it has its own self-governing anti-bad-bacterial properties. I guess I would not use Iodine in any yogurt- or kefir-containing products, though.
