Yes, probiotics are GREAT! Remember though it's hit and miss at best... one bottle of probiotics will contain alot of living organisms while another might have nothing much to offer. Probiotics are quite fragile, but very beneficial. You might want to supplement with a *mixed* probiotic supplement.

"The balance and ratio of the different bacteria strains is also important. Acidophilus produces very acid by-products. More alkaline forming strains are bifidobacteriam (bifidus, lacto-bifidus) and streptococcus.

High doses of acidophilus are very effective at removing pathogens such as candida form your bowels. But high doses should only be used short-term. Long-term your pro-biotic intake should have a balance of bifidobacteriam and acidophilus. It should contain primarily bifidobacteriam.
