I have never had children and had mine inserted in August 2006. I was bleeding for 6 1/2 weeks with gut wrenching pain for 2 months. I returned to my Dr. to make sure the placement was correct and had an internal ultrasound (pretty grose) to check it too. All was normal.

How much did it hurt when you had it put in? I thought I was hanging from the ceiling by my finger-nails. I couldn't believe the amount of pain.
