Understanding the halide trumping where bromine can displace iodine, chlorine can displace bromine and Iodine and fluorine can displace all, AND knowing that our bodies can use chlorine (I would assume in a natural food form or complete salt best), the chlorine will help to mobilize the bromine which can then be replaced much easier by the iodine. As the body makes the shift from bromine metabolism to Iodine metabolism, an increase in "side" effects may be noticed as the usual knocking and pinging body engine begins to smooth out now that its owner is putting ethyl in the tank.

Detox reaction... Off the cuff, but it sounds good...
