the word sin has too much baggage attached to it. in the original greek, it is an archery term. it means missing the mark(target or bullseye). it means doing something and not not getting your intended consequences. it means you have more to learn, not that you will burn in some ficticious hell.
but oh, how often to we sin! how often do our words, the arrows that we let fly, the messengers we send out to deliver our intent, how often do they stray from their mark and result in error, misunderstanding and dysfunction? in this age of licentiousness, those things are SOP. the true and healing word most rare indeed.
