What happens after Mirena is taken out?

I've had my IUD in for 2 years now. Guess I've never really noticed all the side effects that this forum talks about. But after reading them, I am starting to take notice. I have an appt to take mine out on Wednesday. I wanted to know how long did it take for the menstrual cycle to come back to normal after it's taken out.
