Can one take iodine when they have cold?

Hi all:

My daughter suffers from Depression and she is on Lexapro. Yesterday she came down with heavy cold and cough and it is getting worse. Can I give her one drop of iodine. Please note that I only have Dr. Clark's Sodium-Iodide. It has been working for me really well. Also she does not believe in this kind of alternate healing so I will have to sneak it in her meals or juice etc. Is this OK to do? Meaning will it work if someone does not know what they are consuming?

ThanX.
