Just had a couple thoughts after re-reading your post.
In Miami - have you tried Mount Sinai? I can give you a doctor's number there, someone I work with as a patient, professional (my profession), and have a personal relationship with. (As much as I detest the quagmire in the medical field, I tend to strike up friendships with doctors who know how read, research and think. Maybe I just like Oddballs.)
He's a dermatologist however, but witnessed first hand my discintigration - got very concerned but by then I was on my way North. He and another doctor who works in his practice (they mostly handle cancer patients, I went to him for...hate admitting it...Botox...which never worked (for long) anyway offered a couple referreals within the hospital. He never "treated me" but did think at one point that I had some kind of hormonal issue outside his ability to diagnose and referred me to an endocrinologist - who I didn't have time to see and I'm glad I didn't, yet because everything else explains any possible hormonal problems.
ALSO - c'mon. (I'm not challenging you - this is the way I talk when in jest or surprise:) You're telling me that you've called Jackson Memorial and they don't have a Tropical Disease Specialist? That's a research hospital and considered to have some of the best doctors in the country. Every doctor (friend-only) I have in Miami at one point (right after residency) wanted to work at Jackson because it was so advanced. I'd think they'd be all over this game. Again, I wasn't willing to go back to the place where my grave was being dug, or I'd have been checking out Jackson in particular this summer as well as inquiring on TDS's thoughout Dade/Broward (sometimes known as Traveling Disease Specialists).
There is also a TDS in Bonita, closer to you and me. I have not seen him, but he's got credentials and staff told me that he commonly treats parasites "Oh, that's an all too common problem...especially after Charlie." But I already had a doc I liked, just called because for about a week was wanting another opinion or a doctor closer to me. I realized I already had the Mint in the palm of my hand with the guys and gals in Tampa, so it went nowhere.
Responded to your email also. All this just came to mind and I was right here.
