Thanks for your suggestions! The trouble is, I LOVE ice cream and chocolate. I mean, the real stuff. I ate no meat, wheat or dairy for many years, which is a sort of separate issue -- I came to believe that I needed some meat and felt better with it in my life -- but the problem is (and I say that will full awareness that I am the real problem...) whenever my dad comes to visit (as he has been this week) he likes to have ice cream...so there I go!). I'm feeling back in the healthy food saddle again, though. I make an effort that foods we eat are as raw/org/fresh/local/unprocessed as we can afford, so these occasional slips don't bother me too much.
I don't think you were on this board the last time I did a week long ice-cream binge, which is when I started putting cayenne on it (under the theory that the dairy might form mucous, but the cayenne would counteract that!). (Well, we have to justify our bad habits somehow... ;) Actually it did seem to help.
What is most helpful "the morning after" (and let me say before you all form a terirble opinion of me that when I binge, it is about 1/2 cup of ice cream!) is to OP and to use cayenne. I am still seeing allergy relief this season from oil pulling despite this little excursion into the world of sugar...
I think I just feel it a LOT because we cut out most grains last summer, so I think I get a real
Sugar reaction now.
