I didn't quite understand. Can you clarify? When you say mercury tattoos are put into the gum to prevent a cavity ... did you mean they are intentionally put there? And when you say you won't get a tattoo from a mercury filling in a tooth -- do you mean the mercury doesn't come out of the tooth into the tissue ever?
I ask because my mercury tattoo is surrounding a tooth that was root canaled 15 years ago. I don't believe the tattoo was there at first -- in fact, I only became aware of it recently.
Where can I find out more about this? The dentist who told me that it was a mercury tattoo said he couldn't surgically remove it because he didn't know how deep it was. If it's from a root canal, chances are the mercury is deep within and yet the tattoo is on the gumline.
