Re: First Colonic
My first impression after reading about your experience with your ND and the full time therapist who had moved was that the doctor probably hadn't given many
colonics in the past, and perhaps had never even been properly trained on the equipment.
It's not unusual for a doctor who has never personally administered a colonic, other than possibly during naturopathic school on different equipment, to employ a professional colon therapist for that specific purpose as a part of his or her practice. I suspect that your ND may have been left short when the therapist moved and is trying to fill the gap until they find a new one.
Abdominal massage is an essential part of a good colonic. Indeed, many colon therapists are also certified massage therapists and skilled in breaking up pockets of waste matter and stimulating a thorough release.
As far as continuing with enemas at home, my suggestion is to listen to your body. If you are eating well, including lots of raw fruits and veggies, non-sugared juices, exercising and getting enough sleep, then if at times you think an enema might be helpful, it probably will be.
All the best,
Valerie
