The best way to help your girlfriend to cope with rape is to let her talk about it, even if it becomes tedious. Let HER talk, talk, talk. And, suggest that she (and, you) become involved with a rape/crisis counselor/therapist, immediately. I suggest that you become involved because you seem to be in a committed relationship with her. But, keep in mind that you cannot step into the role of being her saviour - she has to do that, all on her own. Its going to be a difficult road for her because of the history involved with the rapist. Unfortunately, this type of thing happens more often that people care to admit - nearly every woman that I know has either been raped or has nearly been raped.

Next, she needs to get an order of protection against her rapist. Hopefully, he'll be caught and incarcerated, quickly. There's nothing worse than wondering and waiting.
