I just read your "I Am on Drugs" Post from a while back. I was out of town for several weeks at my mom's and she does not have a computer so I missed out on it then.
I wonder if the spit-opiate is the reason I (and so many others I know) get addicted to chewing pencils, pens, etc. I have never understood it but boy can I f*ck up a Bic pen in no time flat. When I worked in an office I used to cringe when people would take a pen off my desk because a torrent of spit would come arcing out. (I mean, this is not the way to impress the boss!)
And mouth pain generates so much spit. Babies drooling when they get teeth, and chewing on things to generate more spit. And Lord when I had that huge sore on my tongue a few months back I would wake up nearly drowning in it.
Gives a new meaning to the idea of "oral fixation." Well, no wonder!
