Hopinso, you are right, forum owners DO have moderating privileges, whether they choose to use them, not use them or misuse them. If anyone said that they can see "who" is generating agree or disagree hits, then that person has spoken an untruth in order to control others with intimidation. I'm quite sure that Spirit is perfectly able to check in on who has agreed or not with what, given he really has he time to check into thousands of posts daily for such information, but I doubt it. The rest of us can not see that. We are able to see alerts to the webmaster, but not other minutiae.

And yes, we are able to see who is behind anoymous numbers and even when a poster changes to a new identity. But you are right, exposing a poster's anonymous identity publicly is a major breach of rules and decency. However, I suspect these things are going on because, well, frankly it has become a free-for-all. I believe the only thing that is restraining some from excercising their worst behavior is their own consciences, when present. Tweet
