Re: Weight gain possible on WD?
Jova,
One of the things I like to remember is that being on the Warrior Diet makes your consumption of protein more efficient. I heard some numbers of upwards of 150% better utilization, but I'm a realist and think 75% is a suitable number. So in terms of absorption, what is better...eating 40 grams of protein and absorbing 20, or eating 40 grams of protein and absorbing 30? The great thing is that you don't have to go overboard and eat similar to a bodybuilder weighing 280/290. Just make sure when you want extra protein, take 2 extra boiled eggs (just the whites of course), or cottage cheese or whatever strikes your fancy that will fulfill the extra protein need. Your correct of course, there is a limit to what you can absorb, but it's nice to know you only have to adjust by a matter of degrees. Do this every second day. Maybe once every third day or so try to get some extra fats in...cashews, avocados, something decent. A lot of people overlook the role of fats for use with hormone production. Using your hormones is the cornerstone of the Warrior Diet, coupled with listening to your body's needs.
During the day, low glycemic vegetables and fruits with fiber are your best bet. Maybe some protein occasionally (10 grams or so)if you are so inclined. Apples and baby carrots are my preferred staple, and I don't have much of that. Save the large insulin response in the evening, where it will help to shuttle the carbohydrates and nutrients like its supposed to. And drink water...I would recommend coffee more if I didn't have to pee every 5 minutes, but I like it on the weekends. Obviously the goal during the day is to not create an insulin response, which increases growth hormone, glucagon and all those factors which shift your body to a more efficient fat metabolism. When you eat at night, the insulin assists in pounding everything into your cells.
It took me a long time to truly understand why human beings are layered in fat...it's our preferred source of energy because the body manufactures it from anything extra we consume. And its alway a part of our metabolism, no matter what we do. Can you imagine if fat only collected in our feet? There'd be a lot of people wearing clown shoes...
I hope that answers your questions...being on the Warrior Diet for 7 years now, I made my share of mistakes, but learned alot about myself. Good luck.
