Has anyone pulled with or used Xylitol? Supposed to be great for mouth health.

Hey, all --

I talked to a friend today who has been doing a lot of cleansing over the past decade or so. He had his Amalgam removed and has had some recurring deep dental infections. His dentist suggested trying Xylitol, which he said had strong anti-viral and antibacterial properties. Have any of you tried swishing with it, or using it?

I found this post from a couple of years ago, which suggests that it is really good for mouth health:

Hello: This might be of interest to anyone with gum problems or cavities, also Candida Overgrowth. I have lost all my teeth, due to gingivitis. A couple of years ago, I had the remainder of them removed, and then was given Antibiotics , which gave me a raging case of candida overgrowth. In my quest for natural antifungals, I found a product which claimed to kill candida albicans in the mouth and prevent cavities - called xylitol. So, I have succesfully used it to kill my candida overgrowth by using it internally. Also, my husband has been using it. He usually develops cavities constantly, and since he has been using it, has had no mouth pain or new cavities. This is an amazing substance. I am not selling anything, just a believer. This is a Sugar alcohol, not a sugar, it is medicine for the mouth and internally, antifungal and antibacterial. I still get swollen gums occasionally from my dentures. After cleaning my mouth, I swish with xylitol, and hold in my mouth for a few minutes, then swallow, and it takes away swelling, or even bumps (I got one from apple cider vinegar). It can even help with bad breath. If you do a search, you will find that xylitol comes from Finland, and is in some toothpastes and mouthwashes, and can be bought at health food stores in sugar-type bags. Ironically, the very thing that brought me to xylitol, my teeth, maybe could have been saved, if I had known about it. I had much suffering through the years with my loose teeth and gums, so I truly hope this will help some people here in pain and embarassment. I'm very happy with my dentures, wouldn't trade them for the world at this point.
I would love to hear if anyone tries this. I don't think you would regret it.

Julie

Anyway, you are supposed to get birch based rather than corn based, too.

I think I will get some if it is not too expensive (can't be, as they use it in lots of gums, etc.)! My friend said he has been using it for a week or so and that all sorts of mucous, etc. has been coming out, plus a dramatic finish to a cold he had had...he hasn't been pulling with it, but I thought that might be an interesting way to try it out. (Plus, there is a recipe I have seen on another forum for a coconut oil and xylitol fudge...cleansing the body while eating chocolate. Now that's the bomb-diggity!)

Here is another post from Andreas about it:

Happy pulling,
