I must add that too many 'idea people' have heard...
...Have heard the term 'pie in the sky', too often.
You were carefully trained by an expert...make no mistake about that.
I learned through my interest, and the 'school of hard knocks'.
Others have studied in school, long and hard, and gone out and actually 'done' it...learning at the same time that book-learning can't hold a candle to learning-by-doing.
The big requirement in many industries, especially financial circles, is 'proof of profitability', and then, of course, 'proof that YOU, the entrepreneur, can and WILL do it'.
The 'officer' who interviews you is always a lacky, scared spitless that they will make a mistake in trusting that YOU can and will perform.
The officer interviewing you would very much prefer that you hand THEM the money you hope to make, BEFORE they lend you a penny.
There are so many schemes out there where lenders, etc. want to learn all your plans, and then have time to digest and analyse how they can profit, with or without you, that you and I begin to think of ourselves as airheads.
NOT!
WE are the ones who create the 'economy' everyone is worried about.
We MUST realize our value to society...without us NOTHING happens...and we must do this without excessive ego.
Our excitement carries the entire community, and we need to credit ourselves with intelligence.
It is the accounting types that hide on the chair-side of the desk who question us and breed doubt. We are the risk-takers. They aren't. That's WHY they are on that side of the desk.
I had an accountant tell me so.
So, be proud of yourself, entrepreneurs. You know who you are, and your skills...just as any architect, tool and die maker, or seamstress understands their skills.
Start small if it is your first time out in an area, and build.
Do it in your own kitchen, at first, if you have to.
That's how Apple knew if a newcomer was for them...after showing them around the plant and introducing them to everyone, they took them to the building with the skull and crossbones flying over...and showed them the MacIntosh.
If the newcomer went, "Wow!!!", Apple knew they had someone of their own kind.
I like the line from the movie, 'The Cider-House Rules'..."...You princes of Maine, you kings of New England!"
That's how we should all address ourselves...by our talents.
