Re: For Mama Crow
Love that about 'peace on earth', Nutnberrygirl!
Wouldn't it be great if everyone who wants a job could work at something that truly benefits everyone else?
I happen to know a thing or two about the grocery business. As with any business, it becomes what individuals put into it.
And, if a particular product is both good and a bright idea, go for it!
The biggest part of a really smart idea is seeing the potential. Sadly, not every good product suggests its own promotion.
A really good carrot, for example, doesn't 'demonstrate' easily...unless someone can come up with a recipe that immediately makes children want to do their homework, or brightens your windows, or permanently removes excess hair, painlessly.
But, here and there, we find things that are naturals. Products and presentation systems that turn on 'lightbulbs' over heads...Aha! moments.
Just this minute we were talking about grocery stores open all night, while staff stocks the shelves (a very big and important job in grocery stores). At first glance it seems a smart idea to be open for folks to shop at odd moments through the night.
In some areas this is done because there are already enough shoppers who come out at night to make the sales necessary to pay the wages of clerks and management needed to attend to them. (It doesn't work to have shelf-stockers stop what they are doing to attend to customers).
However (thinks I), IF it were possible to create a knitting circle, where participant insomniacs wanted to come and sit knitting in a cosy group through the night, and some were also skilled as cashiers... (Smile!)
Not everyone gets these brainy ideas, thank goodness. But, of all who read this post over the years, some will remember this idea, and a few will see opportunities to try it.
You know those stores which have a childrens' play area? That's very expensive real estate! Yet it is quite prudent to have a childrens' play area for the convenience of some customers in certain areas.
Why not have a scrumblers' area (stocking it with beautiful leftover yarns) where insomniacs feel comfortable enough to come out at night to join in?
It is the marriage of good ideas that can sometimes, in certain circumstances, be made to work.
I would like to add ideas to a 'marketing' forum here on CureZone, but the only forum I see is actually an advertising board, as far as I can tell. Important in its own way, but not necessarily conducive to idea exchange.
I suppose I would like to see a 'Small Business Idea Exchange forum'. Alternative health care is big business...why not let the little guy try? That's where the action will be.
How about a neighborhood sprouting center? Or a home-gardeners' union? Or neighborhood organic meals-on-wheels?
I know, I know, the regulating 'rules' would be horrendous, but what's to stop a neighbor from hiring out next door as a cook who prepares very wholesome meals?
It's all based on trust, isn't it?
I also love that you caught my meaning, Nutnberrygirl.
Thanks for saying so.
Happy 2007!
