It's best to use the cayenne powder without the caps. As you begin to drink the lemonade with the cayenne, the mouth signals the rest of the system that you've just taken some cayenne and your body prepares for it. With the caplets, your system is unprepared for the cayenne explosion that takes place when the caplet finally opens somewhere in your digestive system.
The 40,000 HU means heat units. Most people in the forum take 90,000 HU which you can get in the bulk section of whole foods. The book recommends 1/10 tsp of cayenne per drink but most people in the forum work thier way up to 1/4 tsp. of 90,000 HU cayenne.
Try and start out with a very small amount of cayenne in your lemonade, something you can barely taste and work your way up. I cannot say how much I love the taste of the hot lemonade. Most people do when they use it for a while. Give it a try, I'm sure you will grow to love it.
