excess protein & liver health

Hey, Rygar, here's some info that might help. This is in regards to liver health and excessive protein. How much is excessive? I don't know...I DO think that only eating protein(meat) at one meal is wise...less than that would be better. However you prepare your meat, DON'T fry it and ...don't grill it(although there ARE things that you can do to minimize damage from grilling...)...how you cook it is of extreme importance...

anyway, here's the info, copied from another post of mine:

If you choose to eat meat, eat only small portions of lean meat, not fried

"Excessive amounts of fat & protein in the diet are difficult for the liver to break down because they make the liver work harder to produce bile and other digestive enzymes. In addition, ammonia produced by the metabolic breakdown of protein can irritate or even be toxic to the liver. Thus, when the liver is not functioning properly, or if it is diseased, it is important to eat fewer foods that contain fat & protein, such as meat and dairy products. It is also good to eat more easily assimilated complex carbohydrates, such as rice or millet, because these take a great load off the liver by decreasing the amount of bile needed..."

This is from "Natural Therapy for your Liver" by Christopher Hobbs, L. Ac.

Hope this helps! :)
